For those thinking of skipping the all-inclusive scene in Cancun but would still like to stay in a safe place within the Hotel Zone, look no further than Hotel Sotavento & Yacht Club.
The accommodations were comfortable and spacious, the staff was most pleasant and helpful. We had to print off our tickets for our tour and they let us do that at the front desk free of charge. In order to get to the rooms, you pass by lots of plant life and we saw tons of iguanas/lizards hanging out nearby. Pretty cool. There is a convenience store nearby walking distance, just simply turn left once you exit the hotel and walk a few minutes. It will be on your left. They have calling cards for your cell phone, batteries, snacks, drinks, all types of things for you if you need last minute. Prices were very reasonable in there too. A whole new meaning to the word “convenient.” Here’s the gist: for the price you pay, the value is definitely there. Here’s some quick points:
The pool has a swim up bar feature for all you Cerveza drinkers!
The food is incredible for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We enjoyed enchiladas suizas, tortilla soup with bread, and a few other dishes while there. This was breakfast one morning. Belgian waffle and the most delicious huevos ranchero entree there ever was:
This hotel is very close walking distance to the public bus to get around which was so convenient. It’s also about a 5-10 minute walk to the catamaran ports such as Dancer Catamaran Cruise (which is mentioned in my advice here), as well as the Pirates Dinner Ship.
Hotel Sotavento & Yacht Club is also close walking distance to Playa Delfines, a relaxing beach to spend the day:
Overall, the price was extremely competitive, the staff was too kind and the location cannot be beat. I highly recommend staying at this property if you are not looking for an all-inclusive stay (i.e. you have all day tours that will keep you away from the property anyway).
